Membership Categories (eligibility criteria)

Member - A physician who has been certified by the American Board of Medical Toxicology and/or by the Sub-Board in Medical Toxicology of the American Board of Medical Specialties. All members in good standing shall have the right to vote, and be eligible to be Directors and Officers.

International Member - A physician who is licensed to practice medicine in countries outside the United States, who practices medical toxicology as a substantial portion of their professional activities. Prospective International Members shall be considered by the Membership Committee, and must be approved by the Board of Directors. International members shall pay reduced dues, and shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office.

Associate Member - A physician who is licensed to practice medicine in their respective country, who has successfully completed a residency training program in a primary medical specialty, and who is enrolled in or has completed a training program in medical toxicology. Associate members shall pay reduced dues and shall enjoy all the privileges of membership except that they shall not have the right to vote or to hold office or become Fellows. Associate membership shall be limited to a maximum of six years, unless an extension is granted by the Membership Committee and approved by the Board.
